Chateauneuf du Pape
Great wines are produced in the southern Rhône valley particularly in the sun-drenched Provence appellation called Châteauneuf-du-Pape. From the opinion of many wine expert, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the world’s greatest wines. One of the oldest wine-growing areas in France, Châteauneuf-du-Pape endured a century or more being ignored, misunderstood, under-valued. The 1980s and 1990s brought renewed interest, respect and recognition to these wonderful wines until 2007 when The famous American magazine specialized « The Wine Spectator » proclaimed that the best red wine in the world is French and it’s a Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The best grenaches of the world are on the terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: We do not find elsewhere the vinosity, the creamy side, the velvety that make this balance.

Southern Côte du Rhône Valley
While Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the admitted King of the Southern Rhône Valley, there are other great quality appellations in the Southern Rhône that are making really great wine. It’s arguable nowadays to say that the Côtes du Rhône is one of the best wine regions in the world that provides truly sublime character driven wines at fair prices.
Gigondas wine tours
Gigondas is an tremendous region that makes significant wines of quality, and most of the time, they are outstanding well priced. Located just north east of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the wines can be similar to those found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard has been cultivated in Gigondas since the first century BC.
Vacqueyras wine tours
Vacqueyras is located south of Gigondas, this appellation offers wines with unparalleled finesse and incomparable freshness. Such a best value is just incredible in the Southern Rhône valley. The Roman colonization allowed the development of vine cultivation in Vacqueyras since the 2nd and 1st century BC.
Rasteau wine tours
Rasteau is situated just northeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard of Rasteau would be born in 30 before JC. The red wines are truly popular and defined by their high percentages of Mourvedre in the blend. This gives this excellent appellation of the southern Rhône a particular touch.
Beaumes de Venise wine tours
Beaumes de Venise is one of the comparatively little appellation in the Rhône Valley that produces red wine. It is not far from Vacqueyras east of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The appellation is also known for producing a remarkable sweet dessert wine, the Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. The village is quite attractive and it still houses one of the oldest ancient Roman Churches built in the 9th century.
