The French Alpine town of Chamonix (altitude 1000m) is located on the road from Megève, France to Martigny, Switzerland or to Courmeyeur, Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel. One of the easiest ski French ski resorts to access either by plane via Geneve, by train, and by road (freeway / highway). Its central location close to Italy and Switzerland make it possible to ski in 3 countries in one day!
By Plane
If flying from North or South America, we recommend flying directly to Geneva. Chamonix is approximately a 1h30 drive from Geneva. Otherwise consider flying to Paris CDG with flight connections to either Lyon or Geneva.
Low budget carriers fly into Chambery or Grenoble.
By Train
Head to St Gervais les Bains Station, then change to the Chamonix Express through the valley.
The TGV from Paris is approximately 4 1/2 hours.
The overnight sleeper train from Paris Gare d'Austerlitz departs at 11PM and arrives at 8:30AM.
Rail from London (8 ½ hrs) via Paris with Eurostar is approximately 8 1/2 hours
