Après-Ski Nightlife in Courchevel

Tips and overview of Courchevel 1850 Après-ski / Nightlife

Updated over a week ago

Those planning a getaway to Courchevel know that they are about to savor some of the best skiing in the world within one of the most prestigious resorts of France. Not only is it a skier’s paradise but the hot social and après ski scene is a tantalizing lure for the jet set and social debutantes.

Courchevel is a wonderful spot for the non-skier with world-class spas, excellent shopping, Michelin awarded dining options, and long list of non-skiing activities. Whether you want to try dog sledding or a toboggan run in the winter, a hot air balloon ride or climbing in the summer, there is always something enjoyable going on.

What about those who are looking for some après-ski action? Well, the nightlife of Courchevel is famous too. Of course, many experts say that it is Courchevel 1850 that is the “place to be” for nightlife, and that you may even need to reserve yourself a spot if you wish to enjoy it. Before we start to look at some of the best après-ski nightlife spots in Courchevel, let’s just consider a few things.

The first is whether you should drop down to the Meribel Valley or Verdons to enjoy the many live music venues and bars. While there are some great spots (La Folie Douce near the Saulire Express gondola in Meribel and Verdons are great) they are distinctly for the louder crowd. You can enjoy a quiet drink in these areas too, such as a cocktail at Bubble Bar in Moriond 1650, but keep in mind that those lifts stop turning in the evenings, and that means cab rides or other unpleasant experiences at the end of the night.

Also, remember that Courchevel 1650 is notably quieter than Courchevel 1850, and is home to bars and restaurants rather than after-hours spots with lots of activity. Yet, there is a lot of fun to be had right at Courchevel 1850 itself.
