RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS

Auberge du Bois Prin (Chamonix)

This 5 star hotel opens its restaurant to the public for lunch and dinner. The Bois Prin has a comfortable, warm and classic setting, located up and above Chamonix Town just near the ski lift station of le Brevent. For more details you can check the following link – www.boisprin.com/uk

Albert Premier (Chamonix)

Fine Dining – 2 Michelin star restaurant – a true example of a classical and traditional French fine-dining experience, set in the lovely setting of the prestigious Hotel Albert Premiere. Very good food without trying too hard. Look out for the good value morning spa and 4 course lunch with 2 glasses of wine package for just €82.00. Highly recommended. Hibou Deli (Chamonix)

Hibou Deli serves fresh and tasty home-made meals to go. All food is prepared fresh on site daily, inspired by flavours from around the world. The slow cooked lamb wrap is a personal highlight. Hibou Deli is the perfect choice if you want healthy, tasty but quickly served food. Also works well if you want to take freshly prepared food back to your chalet to heat up on chefs night off or with self-catered chalet. Very good choice and comes highly recommended – http://www.hibou-chamonix.com

Maison Carrier (Chamonix)

A more rustic version from the same owners of the Albert Premiere, la Maison Carrier is set in a beautiful converted barn – the cooking of meats over an open grill fireplace always gives off great food aromas as you enter. www.hameaualbert.fr/en

Munchies (Chamonix)

Located on the lively Rue des Moulins, this Swedish run restaurant serves great quality asian fusion dishes in a chic contemporary setting – a favorite amongst locals. www.munchie.eu

La Cabane (Chamonix)

Beautiful traditional log cabin featuring a lovely big open fire place – good fine dining restaurant choice, located on the Chamonix Golf Course – good for large groups – http://www.restaurant-cabane.com

MBC (Chamonix)

Located on road to Argentiere, quality pub food with good tasting homebrew beer – www.mbchx.com

Poco Loco (Chamonix)

Very quaint restaurant with its long and very narrow eating area upstairs – enjoy a quality burger, fries and beer for not a lot of money in cool environment www.fastgood-pocoloco.com

Cremiere du Glacier (Argentiere)

Best restaurant in the valley for Savoyard cuisine – if you would like a cheese fondue during your visit to Chamonix, this is the restaurant for you. Situated in a charming location in a private log cabin in the middle of the forest, this very popular no frills restaurant is an experience not to be missed. Reservations are essential as this restaurant is very popular – please note, la Cremiere du Glacier only serves cheese fondues, croutes, gratins and a few salads and that’s basically all they serve, but they also do it so much better than everyone else…we love it – www.lacremerieduglacier.fr

Stone Bar (Argentiere)

Winebar and Italian Woodfired Oven Pizzaria – offering a variety of wines served either by the glass or bottle – they serve great quality wood fired pizzas, home-made pasta and freshly made salads in a nice, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Reservations requested. For more details, check out www.stonebar.net

AFTER SKI BAR RECOMMENDATIONS:

Bard Up (Chamonix)

Happy hours, pool tables and live music – good times guaranteed! At the end of Rue des Moulins, Bard Up is the Aussie place of Chamonix. With sports games on the big screen, pool table, and live bands this place has it!

Chambre Neuf (Chamonix)

This is the old favorite any time of the year – opposite the train station in Chamonix, with happy hour and live bands covering all the classics that get the crowd dancing on the tables during après ski. In the daytime this bar is transformed into a cosy restaurant with checked table clothes and outside seating on the sun terrace. A tasty menu is served and enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. www.en.hotelgustavia.eu

Jekyll & Hyde (Chamonix)

This has to be the best all round bar with live bands, comedy and quiz nights, happy hour promotions, not to mention delicious, high-class pub food which is a mix of Alpine and English tastes – we can recommend the Jekyll & Hyde burgers too! They show all major sports events on large screens and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome from Jo, Chris and the team. The Jekyll is located near the bowling alley. www.thejekyll.com

La Terrasse (Chamonix)

One of the most popular bars, you can’t miss this dusky pink, art nouveau building in the centre of town. The downstairs bar has entertainment every night during high season, from cover bands to Chamonix’s very own Superstar DJs. Beer and shot promos to get the party started – they’re even known to set the prices for jugs of beer as the clock ticks, the sooner you go the cheaper it is! The upstairs terrace bar is more chilled but doesn’t lose the atmosphere with unbeatable views of the mountains – great cocktails too! www.laterrassechamonix.com

Les Caves du Pele (Chamonix)

Located on Chamonix’s main strip for nightlife, Rue des Moulins, Les Caves is the place to be seen in Chamonix with a mix of locals, the champagne set and trendy partygoers. With great cocktails, attractive staff and funky tunes, it will set you up for a great night out in Chamonix. www.caphorn-chamonix.com

The Mix Bar (Chamonix)

The Mix Bar with its modern funky décor, is undoubtedly one of the coolest bars in Chamonix, not surprising when you hear it’s run by one of the Hoax brothers who regularly DJs to get the night off to a great start. With an extensive cocktail menu and friendly bar staff, we’re sure you’ll visit the bar more than once during your stay. And if the very popular Le Munchie restaurant opposite Mix bar is too busy for you to get a table, you can order from their menu in the Mix bar instead and eat in the bar. You may need to eat before 10pm as the Mix bar will be getting busy. www.mixchamonix.com

Office Bar (Argentiere)

A great favorite with the locals with live music, beers on tap, sunny outdoor terrace, resident chef serving up delicious homemade burgers, steaks, BBQ ribs and more. www.the-office-bar.eu

Stone Bar (Argentiere)

Wine bar and Italian Woodfired Oven Pizzaria – offering a variety of wines served either by the glass or bottle – they serve great quality wood fired pizzas and home-made pasta in a nice and relaxed atmosphere. For lovers of beef, the Cote de Boeuf is well recommended. www.stonebar.net

Slalom Bar (Argentiere)

Slalom Bar is a crazy little place tucked away in Argentiere – by day it’s a cosy corner to grab lunch and surf the internet, maybe with one of their rum-laced hot chocolates… by night don’t be surprised to find a fancy dress party or a salsa night in full swing.

The Savoy Bar (Argentiere)

Rustic charm aplenty at Savoy Bar in Argentiere, one of the oldest and cosiest bars in town with great apres-ski ambience and live music.

La Yaute (Argentiere)

La Yaute is a friendly French-run bar at the foot of the Les Grands Montets ski slopes in Argentiere. With sunny terrace, lots of live music and fun atmosphere. This is a welcome addition to the Argentiere apres-ski scene. It is also open in summer, when lunch on the terrace is a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.
