Getting to Brac Island

Your Complete Croatia Travel Guide by Isle Blue

Brac Island is one of the most accessible destinations along the Croatian Adriatic coast, with several convenient options for reaching it by both air and sea.

Arriving by Air

While Brac has its own small airport located near the town of Bol, most travelers will find it more practical to fly into Split Airport, which offers extensive connections across Europe.

Brac Airport operates on a seasonal basis, generally running from late March through late October, and serves only a limited number of scheduled routes.

For those who do fly directly to the island, a handful of carriers operate seasonal services.

Arriving by Ferry or Catamaran

Thanks to its closeness to the mainland — Split in particular — Brac is exceptionally well connected by sea. Multiple ferry and catamaran routes serve the island from several departure points.

From Split: The most popular crossing is the car ferry from Split to Supetar on the island's northern coast. Operated by Jadrolinija, this route runs year-round with frequent daily departures, and the crossing takes around 50 minutes.

From Makarska: Jadrolinija also runs a daily car ferry from Makarska to Sumartin on the eastern side of the island, with a journey time of one hour. This route is particularly handy for those driving up from southern Croatia or looking to visit Brac on a day trip from Makarska.

From Dubrovnik: Several catamaran options connect Dubrovnik to Brac during the warmer months. Jadrolinija runs a seasonal service to Bol, taking just over four hours, with departures from Dubrovnik on mornings between early June and mid-September.

Kapetan Luka operates a catamaran to Milna daily from April through October, departing Dubrovnik in the afternoon and arriving in approximately three hours and 45 minutes.

TP Line also serves the Dubrovnik–Milna route with two summer departures — one in the morning and one in the mid-afternoon — with crossing times of around four and a half hours.

Between Brac and Hvar: Foot passengers can travel between the two islands by catamaran, though there are no car ferry connections linking Brac and Hvar directly.
