Compared to most of the other Caribbean Islands, the grocery costs on St. Lucia are a lot less and so managing a limited budget is a realistic scenario.  

The local currency is the EC $ (East Caribbean $) and it is pegged to the US $ : US $ 1 = EC $ 2.70.
